For a clinical-stage biotechnology company, we are looking for a Chief Scientific Officer to help shape their strategy and future. This company is a joint collaboration of a specialised academic group and a world player in the microbiome field, which resulted in the development of a cutting-edge technology platform. Their mission is the development and production of live biotherapeutic products, to unlock the microbiome’s potential in combatting different disease indications. In this position, you will be a major contributor to the success of a clinical-stage, well-financed, fast-growing biotechnology company and galvanise its worldwide leadership in microbiome research and development of therapeutic agents.


As the CSO, you will be shaping the scientific strategy and future of the company, thus ensuring the long-term success and their mission of revolutionising healthcare. You will bring an open, bold and creative perspective to supervise the multiple scientific disciplines inside the company, to drive and change innovations, develop pipeline strategies and envision new opportunities for the technology platform. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the rigorous review of projects both at initiation as throughout their course, due-diligence and the set-up of scientific partnerships.You will be one of the faces of the company and the go-to person for external audiences such as scientific experts, patient/care partners and investors. As a part of the executive team, you will be working together with the management team, board, scientific advisory board and external scientific advisory committees to ensure the success of this company.


You will bring the following skill set/experience:

  • Ph.D with 15+ years’ experience, with a background in immunology, microbiology or inflammation
  • Strong record of catalysing discovery and translational projects in a multi-disciplinary context
  • Strong network and visibility in the scientific community
  • Previous due-diligence experience
  • Strong vision and ability to make fast decisions
  • Good negotiator and able to influence decision-making
  • Excellent communication skills and the power to inspire people
