In the Field QC Specialist position, you will be working closely with the technical field specialists while reporting into Apeel’s Operations Division. Futhermore, you will be responsible for the day-to-day product application and quality assurance. This includes, but is not limited to, prescribing optimised formulations to use with incoming produce, monitoring product performance on treated produce, and monitoring overall performance with regards to technical quality and compliance with specifications. Like all divisions of the company, this team works in a highly collaborative environment to navigate and overcome obstacles to Apeel’s company’s goals.

Apeel Sciences is seeking independent and self-motivated individuals to work with our customers at their facilities in Spain to ensure customers receive the maximum benefit from the company’s products and services. The Field QC Specialist will be the face of Apeel at the customer locations, providing the Apeel post-harvest treatment service and working with the customer’s plant operators to meet customer and Apeel requirements. He or she will coordinate and communicate with sales representatives, technical field specialists, and Apeel staff at headquarters (HQ) to resolve issues and improve processes. By managing projects driven by the headquarters you will have influence on the innovations of the Apeel products.


  • Bachelor degree in life sciences/biological sciences, chemistry, materials science, or related field, although candidates with relevant experience without a degree will be strongly considered
  • More than three years of experience with quality control and/or experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Experience working in fresh produce or food & beverage manufacturing is a strong bonus
  • Strong ability to thrive in an independent work environment and autonomously drive projects
  • Extremely detail and process oriented
  • Experience with post-harvest applications preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Working proficiency with the English language is also required
  • Ability to perform indoor and outdoor work in cold or hot environments
  • Ability to lift and move boxes of produce (up to 22kg)
  • Willingness to travel for up to six weeks at a time (regionally, nationally, or internationally) may occasionally be required (for a total travel commitment of up to 10–25% of your time)
  • Able to commit three weeks of initial training in Santa Barbara, CA or other designated location
