For a global leader in the bioprocessing industry, we are looking for a Senior Process Engineer. The organisation is a global leader in the field of filtration products, and the industries that they supply to, are in medical devices, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical. By supplying these key industries, the organisation plays an essential rol and aims to improve product quality and safeguard health throughout the entire product lifecycle. Currently, they are scaling up their production activities in the Netherlands by making this their main manufacturing location for the EMEA region. Within this role, you will be part of the engineering department, pioneering with your ideas and the projects that you run, and at the front foot of a great adventure full of potential.


Within the role as Senior Process Engineer, you will work closely with manufacturing and R&D to improve current products and associated processes, and play an essential role in ensuring that the facility’s production and quality goals for 2021 and further are met. Your position in the organogram of the organisation is considered essential, and therefore we are seeking a seasoned professional in the industry who will be responsible for the following. You will:

  • Be the key interface between manufacturing, quality, R&D, and external customers. Hands-on mechanical aptitude and an exceptional problem-solving ability are important
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for bioprocessing manufacturing processes
  • Implement new product processes in manufacturing during technology transfer from product development
  • Do research for improvements to support processing of large-scale chromatography column packing
  • Own implementation and improvement of the statistical process control (SPC) program
  • Develop standardised documentation including SOP’s, training, validation of equipment, and reports
  • Provide accurate and timely project reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot process and quality related problems for assigned manufacturing processes
  • Implement of change controls to optimise current processes and identify emerging technologies for future implementation
  • Implement of corrective actions to solve problems based on root cause analysis
  • Develop and own process improvement projects


The ideal candidate has the following profile:

  • Engineering degree related to mechanical engineering, chemical technologies, applied physics, or material sciences.
  • At least five years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or development environment
  • Demonstrated track record of successful project execution
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience with the operation of laboratory equipment (including pumps, UV detectors, pressure tanks, and various gauges/sensors) and operation of process-scale manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity working in ISO or GMP regulated environments

Experiences with any/all of the following processes are desired:

  • Chromatography scale up and packing chromatography columns
  • Technology transfer between manufacturing sites
  • Statistical analysis software (JMP, Minitab or equivalent)
  • Operation of automated chromatography skids and software (Unicorn, etc.)
