The facility in Nunspeet is the only production site of Nestlé in the world where they make milk powder for infants. They produce products that are designed to improve the quality of life for those who, for example, cannot digest protein or lactose.


In the role as Utilities Project Engineer, you’ll be supporting a large investment project for implementation of utilities. You will be involved in extension of energies set up for a new dairy process with challenges on efficiency improvements. Those projects ensuring the continued compliance of their factory with the strictest hygiene and quality requirements for the most sensitive of the organisation’s consumers, babies. You will manage multiple functions flexibly and with a high degree of autonomy to ensure they are implemented within a running factory environment – fast – effectively – and well aligned with the daily work of the operations & quality teams! The development will be driven with latest technologies for reducing CO2 emissions, water and waste water savings. Steam, nitrogen, hot/chilled/RO waters, air cooling systems and mechanical building functions will drop under your responsibility.

You will be part of the project engineering team, an experienced team within Nestlé and the food industry. The responsibility to develop, drive and deliver will be with you, the support you’ll need will come from them!

Tasks of a Utilities Project Engineer:

  • Define the solution / project with key internal stakeholders according requirements and timeline for defined success criteria on the investment project
  • Lead, coordinate closeout and handover sub projects within agreed factory & project constraints
  • Respect and follow the rules according (food) safety, environment and hygiene and ensure these are followed by suppliers, contractors, visitors
  • Ensure that all assets are well designed according to legal and internal rules (i.e. plant layout, equipment selection etc.) and fit the business purpose through applying new technologies, proven principles, thorough design reviews and basic science
  • Propose and control the costs relating to the projects autonomously within the budget and with a strong scope management focus
  • Manage continuous improvement, networking, sharing information & experience in such a way that it becomes a key pillar of the engineering culture
  • Ensure that the operators, mechanics, electricians are effectively trained and that the transfer of the equipment is both smooth and efficient
  • Working as team player and leading his own stream from concept, implementation to commissioning


The requirements for this position are:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • 3 to 6 years experience in a similar function and industry is a plus
  • Expertise in utilities supply for continuous product facilities
  • Experience in managing projects, for newcomers bring an example from outside of work
  • Strong communication skills, curiosity to learn and understand working in a complex environment
  • Flexible and pragmatic approach to challenges, drives these with the team
  • Good control of the English and Dutch language
